TDIClub servers Down!

Well guys, Bad news.

When trying to re-install the OS kept getting a number of I/O errors. Looked like we got it all solved at one point, but then with most of the install done the system crashed and all data was lots.

Good news is this shouldn't too big of a problem as we have backups, but we are offline at least until Saturday at the earliest. I'm also looking into just purchasing another server as it seems the Motherboard might be fried :( I'll keep you posted here.

PS, my email is currently not working either do to this.;(

Fred, does this mean that you are going to replace the mobo with a dual Slot-1 one so that you can retain the dual PIIIs you have? Would it be too much of a leap to consider an upgrade to a new platform at this point?

I am investigating this at the moment as well, but i've been offered a replacement motherboard at cost. Also getting a new system takes some time, so my main priority is to get something working ASAP.

The other possiblity is the distribution of linux that was attempted....

Anyways, I'll know more today/tomorrow and will post here. When time comes to upgraded the whole system I'm going to do it in one swath, pretty much complete.
I have "server level" hardware now, but I've been adding over the years to it and the intermittend errors have caused me concern (ie dropped drives from the RAID, etc). This was why I was going to re-install from scratch.... but perhaps it's just the distro doens't like the MB? I wish I had enough duplicated similar hardware to do real work, or back up systems.;)

Debian --> Gentoo (supermicro p3tdle Motherboard). We should be up on a temporary box Saturday some time on the old setup. Thta will give more breathing time to figure out all the other problems get a stable system running again.

Paypal is just to my email address, but please wait until we are back up.
